What to Expect

On Your First Visit Only-
Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment time. You will need to fill out a brief standard health history intake form. The acupuncturist will then have a brief consultation with you about your chief complaint. Please ask any questions or concerns you might have at this time. Once you are in the community treatment room there is no talking. If you need to tell your acupuncturist anything, please whisper. The acupuncturist will then bring you into the community treatment room, find a comfortable recliner for you and insert needles into specific points. Just lie back, relax and enjoy the soothing music. She will let you know when your treatment is complete.

Returning visits-
Come on in and have a seat in the waiting room. A practitioner will come out as soon as she is available. Tell the practitioner in just a few brief sentences an update since your last treatment.

All Patients-
Please take all your personal belongings with you into the treatment room. Please remove your shoes and socks after sitting down on the recliner and roll up your sleeves and pants. Our style of acupuncture uses points on the arms, hands, legs, feet, head and ears, commonly referred to as "distal points" to treat conditions anywhere in the body. For example, back and neck pain is treated using points on the hands and feet.

PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE AND PAGERS ARE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND NOT ON VIBRATE, EVEN VIBRATE CAN DISTURB OTHERS!

Most people feel a deep sense of relaxation and often fall asleep during their acupuncture treatment. Some individuals experience a sense of tingling or heaviness in the body or at specific acupuncture points. These sensations are completely normal.

A course of treatments will be recommended to you during your initial consultation. The number of treatments depends on your particular complaint and your rate of response to the acupuncture. Some people feel dramatic changes after a few treatments while it might take others longer to feel better. Our goal is to make some sort of a shift in your body at your first treatment.

Acupuncture is most effective when repeated often. It is important to be patient, especially if we are dealing with a chronic(longer than 6 months) condition. Most people receive a minimum of 2 treatments per week but usually do not exceed 3. Generally treatments can vary from 1-3 depending on the individual and scheduling. If you don't come in often enough or long enough, acupuncture might not work for you. We want you to get good results and commit to your process. If you have any questions, just ask.

Your acupuncturist will check in with you on each visit to see how you are feeling since your last visit.

Payment Policy
We accept cash or local checks. We do not accept health care insurance due to the sliding scale fee. This is a rule from the insurance companies. If you would like we can provide you with a receipt of accumulated visits, which you can submit for reimbursement.
